Quality Engineer
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Quality Engineer to be based at their client’s office in London.
This is a hybrid role – you can work remotely in the UK and attend the London office 2 days per week.
This is a 12 month temporary contract to start asap
Day rate: Competitive Market rate
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality, reliability, security, and performance of a critical internal API validation tool used across the organisation.
- The focus is on preventing defects early, maintaining high engineering standards, and enabling teams to deliver stable, secure, and scalable API products.
- End-to-End Validation: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive test suites that cover both happy-path validation scenarios and complex negative/edge-case OpenAPI input validation.
Key Requirements
Automation & Test Engineering
- Good Knowledge on test automation frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript/Java Script, Cucumber.
- Implement end-to-end, integration, and regression testing for APIs, CLI tools, and UI components.
- Leverage Harness for continuous testing and deployment validation.
API Gateway & CLI Testing
- Validate API Gateway configurations,
- Perform CLI testing to ensure usability, correctness, and automation readiness of command-line tools.
Security & Performance Testing
- Conduct security testing (authentication, authorisation, vulnerability scanning, and data protection).
- Perform performance and load testing to ensure system scalability and resilience under high traffic.
CI/CD & DevOps Integration
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous quality checks.
- Collaborate on pipeline optimisation using tools such as Harness and other DevOps platforms.
Value to Management
- Reduces delivery risk and post release defects.
- Improves engineering productivity through automation and quality standards.
- Protects internal platforms from security and performance failures.
- Ensures internal tools scale reliably as API usage grows.
- Enables faster, more confident releases across digital platforms.
Defect Prevention & Quality Improvement
- Identify defects early through shift-left testing practices.
- Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills are a must and should be willing to stretch to fulfill any complex customer requirements.
- Must be proactive in guiding and helping the customer in their decision-making process
