Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer to be based at their client’s office in Gloucester, UK.
This is a hybrid role – you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Gloucester office 3 days per week .
This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start asap
Day rate: Competitive Market rate
Key Responsibilities
Azure Operations & Support
- Provide L2/L3 support for Microsoft Azure Landing Zone and Azure environments.
- Manage, maintain, support, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure IaaS/PaaS services.
- Handle severity incidents, escalations, and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Provide on-call support (ROTA basis), including weekends and after business hours.
- Adhere to defined SLA/OLA commitments.
- Handle tickets, service requests, and incidents using ITSM tools.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
- Implement and manage Azure tenant-level configurations, including:
- Conditional Access (CA) policies
- Azure AD policies (SSO, MFA, Identity governance)
- Design, implement, and support Azure Landing Zone architectures.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using:
- Terraform
- ARM templates
- Ansible
- Perform automation and scripting using PowerShell.
- Support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for new cloud services and technologies.
Identity & Access Management
- Administer Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
- Manage and support:
- Active Directory
- ADFS
- Azure AD Connect
- Implement and support SSO and MFA solutions for SaaS applications.
- Support enterprise device provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
ITSM, Documentation & Governance
- Follow ITIL/ITSM best practices, including:
- Incident Management
- Change Management
- Problem Management
- Prepare incident reports and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and user training materials.
- Deliver services in alignment with ITIL-based Service Creation processes.
Key Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS & PaaS).
- Extensive experience with:
- Azure DevOps
- CI/CD pipelines
- Terraform (IaC)
- PowerShell scripting
- ARM templates
- Ansible
- Git
- Linux
- Hands-on experience with Azure Landing Zone implementation and support.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure Licensing.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD Connect
- DNS, DHCP, VNETs
- Azure AD policies (Conditional Access, SSO, MFA)
DevOps & Agile
- Proven experience working in an Agile / DevOps model.
- Proficient with JIRA for story creation and sprint management.
- Experience delivering cloud-based solutions across large enterprise environments.
IT Service Management
- Solid understanding of ITIL/ITSM best practices.
- Experience handling escalated incidents and problem management.
- Ability to prepare incident reports and RCA documentation.
Operational & Support Skills
- Experience with remote server management tools.
- Strong hardware troubleshooting knowledge.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work in multiple shifts, including out-of-hours support as required.
Soft Skills & Professional Attributes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics simply.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- High level of customer focus and responsiveness.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-400) – added advantage
- ITIL certification – desirable
